Don't fan the fire

Firefighter Kelly Oestreich of Marble Falls Fire Rescue had to make sure the source of a brush fire was cold before firefighters could leave the scene. A landowner’s burn pile got out of control, scorching 2 acres of his property in Mill Creek Wednesday.
First responders urge caution in the coming dry months after several grass fires – one spanning roughly 50 acres – occurred in the past week. The most recent fire took place in Mill Creek on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. While the fire only consumed two acres, it threatened a structure and was dangerously close to igniting a hillside of dead cedar trees, Marble Falls Area Volunteer firefighters said.
