Marble Falls allows Vista Ridge to run wild

Marble Falls coach Matt Green had plenty of discussions with the referees on Friday. Between them, Marble Falls and Vista Ridge were flagged 27 times for 293 yards in penalty yardage. Vista Ridge rushed for 463 yards and passed for 171 against the Mustangs to take a 49-21 District 25-5A victory.

Marble Falls' trip to Gupton Stadium turned out to be a rough one.

The Mustangs gave up 17 yards play in the first half and Vista Ridge scored on its first five possessions to take command and handed Marble Falls a 49-21 defeat in the District 25-5A opener for both teams.

Quarterback Matt Snow, a 6-1, 185-pound junior, made Marble Falls night miserable with 14 carries for 147 yard rushing. He scored twice on runs of 40 and five yards.

Vista Ridge (4-0) jumped to the early lead with an 11-play, 73-yard march the first time the Rangers had the ball.

On the next four possessions, the Rangers snapped the ball just 12 times and came away with a 35-0 lead with nine minutes let in the second quarter.

The Mustangs (2-2) climbed back, but still trailed 42-14 at halftime.

The game was really sloppy with the two teams combining for 27 penalties for 293 yards. Vista idge was flagged for eight 15-yard penalties in the first half.
