Double Horn giving 10 percent to local school

Double Horn Brewing Company in Marble Falls will donate to St. Peter’s Lutheran School 10 percent of all sales Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Lunch, dinner, drinks and take-out orders are all included in the fundraiser.
Charity Proceeds Day, which has taken place for the past three years, is close to the heart for the co-owner of the brewery: she’s also the school’s director.
“Each year our congregation and families at St. Peter's, along with the regular patrons of Double Horn, have stepped up to provide a profitable day allowing us to earn some extra funds for our school,” said Tracy Knight.
Funds are spent mainly on books, construction paper and paint. “Last year the money we raised went toward the purchase of three new SmartBoards for our classrooms,” she said.
Tracy’s husband Dusty Knight, brewery co-owner, said giving back to the community that supports their business is important to him. “We established Charity Proceeds Day soon after our opening,” he said, adding the brewery donates ten percent of its proceeds every month on the 3rd or 4th Wednesday to a different local charity. “We've helped more than 20 charities raise thousands of dollars,” Dusty said.
“We especially enjoy supporting St. Peter's Lutheran School because the director is my lovely wife," he said.
St. Peter’s runs a preschool for 3-year-olds, a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. “Families like our small class sizes, Christian environment and nurturing classrooms,” Tracy said, adding the school’s certified teachers teach state-required skills.
“We strive to help all students prepare for school by starting them off in a fun and engaging classroom full of learning opportunities,” she said.
The school will have their annual 5K fun run, the Run for the Son, on April 11, 2015, which raises money for their scholarship fund. “We’re one of the only preschools in the area to offer full and partial scholarships to our families who need assistance getting their child into preschool,” Tracy said.
