Dozens of jars of herbs, used for cooking, making juice, and in herbal tinctures, line the kitchen walls at Foxglove Botanicals in Cottonwood Shores.

The senses are enlivened by sights and smells when walking through the door of Foxglove Botanicals Juice Bar & Tea Garden in Cottonwood Shores. The smell of fresh, gluten-free bread baking in the oven mixes with aromas of both tea and coffee.
Jar upon jar of herbs line the kitchen walls.
Handmade jewelry dangles in several display cases, and small, colorful stencil paintings of bugs and butterflies grace the walls.
After three months of renovations on the building, Foxglove Botanicals opened for business Tuesday, March 3. It is run by two women on a mission to help folks get healthy, inside and out, using natural ingredients.
“It’s a matter of bringing the community together and helping to make the world a better place,” said owner Carin Farris, who wants her store to be a place for people to gather, teach, ask questions and learn. “You can just sit down and look through my library, or sit outside on the decks and enjoy a cup of tea.”
She welcomes people to stop by and ask questions. “I’m not bashful,” she said. “If anyone has a question, if I don’t know the answer I will find it.”
Her goal is for folks to be healthy and “properly informed” about what they ingest. “I want children to grow up understanding there is another way to buy food besides the grocery store,” Farris said.
Sandy Partin, who makes the jewelry and helps with the business, said Foxglove Botanicals will be a good experience for people. “We love to visit with people. It’s a fun place to come, sit and enjoy,” Partin said. “The aura is so good here.”
“There are health food places [in the region] already, but they mainly concentrate on the inside of the body,” Partin said. “We’re about whole body health. There are only a few things we can control: health and inner peace.”
Farris has always been fascinated by plants, and especially those with the power to heal.
When she was 9, Peterson’s Field Guide to Wildflowers landed in her lap.
