Wanda Jean Baker Daugherty, 88, of Austin, died on Sunday, March 8, 2015.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail in Austin.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Harrell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Austin.
She was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Bertram, and had been a resident of Burnet County for many years.
Daugherty grew up on a farm and knew what it was to pick cotton. As a child, she would ride a horse to school.
She was one of 12 children and loved having a big family. She enjoyed visiting relatives.
As an adult, she enjoyed cooking and baking cakes and always had a pot of coffee ready.
She was a member of the Creedmore Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #607 in Onion Creek.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Roy Daugherty, Jr., and a son, Donald Roy Daugherty.
She is survived by: her son, Robert Joseph Daugherty; daughter, Brenda Jean Daugherty Barrientes and her husband, John; three grandchildren, Patrick Royce Barrientes, Anna Mae Daugherty and Pamela Kay Daugherty; six great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters.
