William Boyd Heffington
May 17, 1931~March 12, 2015

William “Bill” Boyd Heffington, 83, died at home in Marble Falls on Thursday, March 12, 2015.
He was born on May 17, 1931, in Smithwick, the son of Ira Boyd and Beulah Beatrice Hays Heffington.
He graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1949 and, on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1953, he married Ada Mae Harris of Bertram. They were married 62 years. She survives.
Heffington served in the U.S. Army in South Korea from 1953-1954. After returning home from his service, the couple moved to Houston, where he worked at the Shell Oil refinery. After a major layoff there, he became involved in appliance sales and repair, and finished his careers in Houston as a supervisor and construction manager in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. During their 30 years in Houston, he and his wife made many friends and raised four children.
In 1983, the couple returned to Smithwick, and he and his brother, Lyndon, worked together at Heffington Appliance in Marble Falls.
Heffington later branched off to own Bill Heffington Appliance and served the Burnet County area until he retired in 2008.
During his lifetime, Heffington's interests included auto racing, fishing, deer hunting, playing 42, and live music. He was known by many for his mechanical skills.
Most of all, those who knew Heffington best will remember how he loved to spend time with family, especially his and Ada's children and grandchildren. Many, who had no biological ties to Heffington, opted to call him “brother,” “dad,” “uncle” and “grandpa” such was their relationship with him and he cherished it all.
In addition to his wife, Ada Mae, Heffington is survived by children and their loved ones, Donna Kay and Steve Palousek of Holland; Timothy Price and Melissa “Missy” Heffington of Houston; William “BJ” Boyd Heffington Jr. and Bernadette Gallegos of Houston; Leslie Anna and Scott Payne of Marble Falls.
He is also survived by: grandchildren, Marshall, Mitchell and Maverick Payne, Bethany Heffington, Clayton and Ray Palousek, Austin Phelps, as well as Sedrick and Jamail Malone; sister-in-law, Ruth Heffington, of Marble Falls; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jack Rogers of Marble Falls; sister, Pasty Gray of Waco; brother and sister-in-law, Lesley Dwayne and Betty Heffington of Kingsland; brother-in-law Junior Harris and his wife, Nelda, of Bertram; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Boyd and Beulah Heffington; brother, Lyndon Heffington, and brother-in-law, Leonard Gray.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Funeral services were then held Monday, March 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home with Scott Payne officiating. Interment followed at Smithwick Cemetery.
