Mary Lane Sellers Young
Nov. 1, 1913 – March 13, 2015

Mary Lane Sellers Young, 101, died on Friday, March 13, 2015.
She was born on Nov. 1, 1913, in Del Rio, Texas, the younger of two children of Earl and Alice Sellers.
After graduating from Del Rio High School, she attended a dancing academy in San Antonio, receiving instruction in tap, ballet, toe and ballroom dancing.
She then moved to Ft. Stockton, Texas, to begin her life-long teaching career in dancing.
While there, she met and married Eddie Young.
After several years, they returned to Del Rio where they entered the family ranching operation with her father and brother, Earl and Jack Sellers.
In 1953, the family ranching operation expanded to include a ranch 18 miles from Selma, Alabama.
The couple and their three children (two daughters and a son) spent five years in that location while continuing to retain their home base in Del Rio. In 1958, they returned to Del Rio.
After a brief stay in Houston, they retired to the Kingsland area.
Young will be remembered by those who knew her best for her particularly uplifting approach and positive attitude toward life. She was thought to be warm, fun and very pleasant company. She made others feel accepted and good about themselves.
Thinking that there would be less unhappiness in the world if more people danced, she continued to dance throughout her life and taught in some form until she was 95 years old.
Young is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Winfield Jensen and husband, Lou, of Corvallis, Oregon, and Johanna and Dale Faulkner of Burnet; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Eddie Young, and also a son, Eddie, in 2005.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes, Inc. in Llano, which offers email condolences via the Internet by sending messages to: whhfuneral1@verizon.net.
