Charles C. Duncan of Johnson City passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Knopp Nursing Home in Fredericksburg, Texas, where he was admitted as a patient the day before on June 12, 2015.
Charles was born March 15, 1931, in Delaware, County, Oklahoma, to Claude Duncan and Mable Smith Duncan.
Preceding him in death were his father, mother and two sisters, Retha Long and Janice Brady.
Charles spent his younger years in Oklahoma, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, within which he served for 20 years.
He was stationed in Korea during wartime in 1953, several other foreign countries and, in 1969, he spent a year in Viet Nam during wartime.
Returning to the United States in 1970, he served the rest of his enlistment in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
In June of 1972 he married Alyce and moved to Texas later that year.
Surviving him are: his wife of 43 years, Alyce Froysland Duncan; sister, Ruth Hughes of Oklahoma; two daughters, Karon Cook of Mississippi and Donna Fowler and husband, Calvin, of California.
Also surviving are: two step-daughters, Ava (Katie) Phillips and husband, H.J., of Austin, Texas, and Kara Moreno and husband, Sim, of Johnson City, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Tonya, Steffanie, Jessica, Melissa, Alicia, Alvis, Kari, Lindy, Eric, and Vanessa; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All were very special to Charles.
Funeral services for Charles will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Johnson City, 102 North Avenue F., in Johnson City, with the Rev. Kebirn Rush officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Miller Creek Cemetery.
