“The Love of Our Lives”

Halton Ray Naumann, 85, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

He was born on the family farm near Spicewood to Irwin “Buddy” Naumann and Sadie Bell DeSpain Naumann.

Halton grew up in Spicewood, attended school in what is now the community center and, in the winter months, kept warm around a large wood stove.

At the age of 21 he answered the call of duty to serve his country.

He completed basic training at Fort Ord, California, and, from there, went on to serve in Korea for two years.

Upon returning home, he met Nilla Evelyn Luckie, and the two were married the following year, July 10, 1954.

He farmed and ranched all of his life and loved the outdoors.

Halton gave his heart to the Lord, June 25, 1958, and was baptized in Cypress Creek in Spicewood. He was a lifelong member, along with his family members, of the Spicewood Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death, were his father, mother; brother, Elmo Naumann; sister, Verna Lee Wallace, and husband, John Wallace.

Surviving him are: his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Naumann, their children, Doris Jean Buford and husband, Tom Buford, Kenneth Ray Naumann and wife, Melody, Janet Marie Naumann Wilson, one brother, Carlos Landon Naumann and wife, Shirley, and sister-in-law, Fay Naumann.

Also surviving him are nine grandchildren: Brandon Bray, Christopher Bray, Sydney Buford, Cory Buford, Cari Garcie, Seth Naumann, Hanna Naumann, Steven Hernandez, Tiffiny McDowell, and soon-to-be nine great-grandchildren.

There are many more nieces, nephews, friends, relatives, and neighbors.

A service will be held at Spicewood Baptist Church, on Wednesday, July 15, with interment at Haynie Flat Cemetery in Spicewood.

“You were the love and inspiration of our lives, the wind beneath our wings. We love and miss you Halton Ray, Dad, Grandpa and Papaw.”
