James “Jim” Robert Kirkpatrick, 83, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.
Jim was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Joliet, Texas, to Robert Louis and Willo Kirkpatrick.
He was loved by all as an industrial arts teacher at Refugio High School for 15 years. He retired from the school system and went into business for himself building custom homes and remodeling.
He later moved to Fredericksburg and continued building and remodeling.
Upon retirement, he resided in Granite Shoals on the lake.
He was a faithful member of the Granite Shoals First United Methodist Church.
Jim is survived by: his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Lavern Kirkpatrick; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Margaret Kirkpatrick; daughter, Karen Kirkpatrick; son and daughter-in-law. Scott and Tina Kirkpatrick; daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Bill Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Stan Allen, and, another son, Allen Buckner
He also leaves behind to mourn 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Jean Gray Kirkpatrick, and his parents.
To Jim, no one was a stranger. He was quick to laugh and loved being around others. He was happiest when he was helping others. He will be missed.
Services will be held Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Texas, with the pastor Keith Wyatt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Admiral Nimitz Foundation or the charity of one's choice.
