Anna Ruth Wells McCoy, 81, of Marble Falls, lost her battle against lung cancer and passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 in Burnet.
Anna Ruth was born on Dec. 26, 1933, in Johnson City, Texas, to proud parents, Virgil and Clara Wells. She was the sixth of nine children in the family.
Anna Ruth left Johnson City in 1950 to work as a waitress in Burnet and Marble Falls.
She met a Navy man, Larry McCoy, while working as a waitress and love blossomed into marriage in 1952.
Larry started working at the Lower Colorado River Authority and the couple made their home in Marble Falls. They had four children: Wayland, Clayton, Karl DeWayne and Linda.
Anna Ruth began working as a part-time cashier at HEB.
Larry passed away in 1966, and Anna Ruth took on the new job of a single parent.
She devoted the remainder of her life to the care and guidance of her children and grandchildren.
Her performance at HEB led to a promotion to GM manager, and later to bakery manager. She retired from HEB in 1993.
She enjoyed for hobbies the making of quilts, needlepoint and crochet with her two sisters, Mopie and Loetta.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Marble Falls since the early 1960s.
Anna Ruth is survived by her four children: Wayland McCoy and wife, Terri, Clayton McCoy and wife, Kay, Karl DeWayne McCoy and wife, Candy, and Linda Burnham and husband, Bill.
She is also survived by: nine grandchildren, Kylie Dodd and husband, Eric, Casey McCoy and wife, Christy, Karissa McCoy, Kristopher McCoy and wife, Kristy, Adam McCoy, Carrah Bird and husband, Brandon, Karla Stephens and husband, Kale, Cody McCoy, Erika Burnham, and Lynette Rogers and husband, Jared; seven great-grandchildren, Abby and Weston Bird, Nathan, Tate and Jace Dodd and Hadley and Clayton McCoy.
Anna Ruth is also survived by her remaining sister, Florine Stanford.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Virgil and Clara Wells; her husband, Larry McCo; sisters, Nancy Tilley, Loetta Wilson and Mopie Adams, and, brothers, Ray Wells, Buddy Wells, Dub Wells and Henry Wells.
The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Sept. 18, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Graveside services will follow at the Marble Falls Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6-8 p.m.
