Johanna Wilson

Johanna “Johnnie” Wilson was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Seguin, Texas, to Charles and Paula (Henze) Starcke.

She was the youngest remaining of five children.

In 1939, she married Myers Hardy Wilson in Blanco, Texas. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his death in 2005.

In the early years, Johnnie worked in a munitions plant making ordinance, and as a beautician. She later worked as a full-time wife and mother to two sons.

In her spare time, she pursued her interests in flowers, sewing, music and art by joining Ikebana International, San Antonio’s Fiber Arts Guild and Sweet Adelines.

In 1980, when they moved to Lake LBJ, she continued her passions with the Highland Lakes Art Guild, Marble Falls Garden Club and the United Methodist Church Choir.

After their retirement, they enjoyed traveling in Europe, Hawaii and Alaska.

Johnnie will be remembered for her sense of humor, artistic ability and boisterous personality. She passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, with her son, Kenneth, by her side.

She is survived by: her eldest son, Henry, and his wife, Peggy, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her younger son, Kenneth and his partner, Carl Parker, of Austin and Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Wendy and her husband, Richard Ewan, and two great-grandsons, Bailey and Gabriel, all of Los Angeles, California.

A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
