A celebration of life service will be held at noon this Saturday Oct. 24, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Parish Church, 105 Hwy 1431 East in Marble Falls, Texas.

Manuel was born April 1, 1937, in Guadalupe County to Francisco and Felicitas (Sanchez) Esquivel.

He grew up in Hays County near San Marcos, Texas, on the 5,000-acre Scrutchin Ranch, where he worked alongside his dad tending to 400 head of cattle.

He later entered the U.S. Navy Reserves at Great Lakes, Illinois, where he attended boot camp.

He would later meet his wife, Laura Delatorre, in Tijuana, Mexico. They were married June 20, 1959.

The Esquivels resided in New Braunfels, Texas, where he started his career with the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) at the Comal Power Plant in December 1960.

Prior to the closing of the Comal Power plant he transferred to the Thomas C. Ferguson Generating Station until his retirement in Dec. 31, 1994.

Additionally, he served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy Reserves and the Army National Guard.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, and his spouse, Laura.

He is survived by: his four children, Olivia Esquivel; Manuel Esquivel and wife, Ana; Larry Esquivel and wife, Lesley; and Laura Esquivel Smith and husband, Roger.

The family would like to wholeheartedly thank all beloved family members and friends for the outpouring of love and emotional support through their visits, phone calls, flowers, and gifts.

The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff of Seton Williamson County, Dr. Smedley, and wound care nurse, Donna.

The family would ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Manuel's name to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Distinctive Life Cremations and Funerals of Austin.
