Marble Falls woke up in the fourth quarter, but it was too late in a 65-53 loss to Dripping Springs on the road Tuesday night.

The Mustangs put together a stretch where they scored 17 points in a three-minute span to cut the final margin.

Josh Mosley, Ethan Riley and Andrew Stripling combined for 23 points in the fourth quarter.

“We played with some urgency, that’s the way we need to play,’’ Marble Falls coach Paul Gammage said. “It was exactly like last year down there. We were down 26 entering the fourth quarter and would up losing by 14. We did have a great quarter.’’

Marble Falls dipped to 7-13 overall and 0-2 in district. Dripping Springs upped its record to 11-12 overall and 1-1 in district.

Mosley and Riley finished as the top scorers with 14 points each while Stripling tallied 11 and Keegan Deering 10 points.

Stripling led in rebounding with six.

The Mustangs relied heavily on the perimeter shots with 10 made 3-pointers. Mosley had four, Deering two, Riley two and Stripling two from beyond the arc.

The Mustangs will take on the Georgetown Eagles (12-8, 1-1) at Max Copeland Gymnasium on Friday.
