Cristo Viene, the Iglesia del Dios Vivo at 1301 Fifth Street, is a church that has won the heart of artist Bernie Sachs during six months of planning and excuting a scene from Jordan River for the church baptistry.

Pastors Simon and Lilia Salgado dedicated the church that was expanded by their own congregation in 2008. Sachs, an artist, poet and owner of Mustang Lube, is adding a finishing touch.

See the story in the Friday, Jan. 29, edition of The Highlander.
