Marble Falls snaps 47-game streak

Marble Falls sent its three seniors out on top Tuesday night with a 51-36 victory over Georgetown East View at Max Copeland Gym.
The District 25-5A victory snapped a 47-game losing streak in district games spanning over four seasons for the Mustangs.
The Mustangs dominated with rebounding and defense in the rematch with the Patriots, who had beat the Mustangs by 10 in their previous meeting.
Marble Falls outrebounded the Patriots, 39-12.
Eight Mustangs scored in the game led by sophomore Keegan Deering with a 10-point, seven-rebound game and junior Ethan O'Riley with 12 points.
The senior trio of O'Ryan Ficklin, Adam Angel and Andrew Vasquez combined for 15 points.
The Mustangs never trailed after taking the lead 9-8 with 2:29 left in the first quarter.
The Mustangs big run came in the third quarter when O'Riley hit back-to-back 3-pointers within 30 seconds to push the Mustangs to a 29-21 lead.
The previous district win for the Mustangs was Jan. 11, 2013 when Danny Rivara scored 12 points in a 45-35 road victory over Vista Ridge. The Mustangs were 15-14 overall and 2-2 in district after the win over the Rangers that season.
Marble Falls lost the final eigtht games in 2012-13. The Mustangs string continued with 12 losses, 14 losses and 13 losses in the next three seasons.
