Many folks have cherished memories from the Uptown Theatre, which has been a staple on Marble Falls’ Main Street for more than 70 years. Four business partners have opened the Uptown Sound Studio in that unique space, after spending the last few months revitalizing the interior of the historic building.

The goal is to keep Uptown’s history fresh while forming a vision for the future they hope will become integral to the city’s new Main Street.

“Everybody has some kind of story about the place,” said Corey Whitaker, business partner.

The partners held a soft opening Feb. 24, inviting big names in Texas music as well as locals for a preview of its offerings. “I think everyone was just blown away,” Whitaker added.

Since then, artists, musicians and local townspeople have endorsed the studio, said John David Kent, musician and business partner. “It was a humbling experience to see the result of all the blood, sweat and tears, and to feel such love and support.”

The Uptown Sound Studio melds a professional sound recording studio, live music, movie screenings of films old and new, and a cozy place just to have a beer.
