Hazel Irene Hathaway Norman
Hazel Irene Hathaway Norman
Aug. 1, 1920~March 4, 2016
Hazel Irene Hathaway Norman, affectionately known by her family as ‘Nanny’ flew from this earth to walk through the Pearly Gates into the loving arms of her Savior and join her husband, Horace Harry Norman, Friday, March 4, 2016 after a beautiful day surrounded by those she loved and loved her deeply.
Hazel lived a long and full life of 95 years.
Peacefully, in her sleep, she passed away of natural causes in Marble Falls where she has been a resident for 44 years.
Hazel was born on Aug. 1, 1920, in Vale, Oregon, to Viola Anne Monson and Herbert G Hathaway; she was a big sister to two brothers, Albert and Herbert.
She married Horace, her soulmate and love of her life, on Aug. 30, 1949.
Together they lived in West Texas until the 1970s when they came to settle and eventually retire in the Marble Falls area where her husband was a PGA Club Professional; she too was an avid golfer and a true complement to her husband and his profession.
Hazel was a loving wife, mother and grandmother along with a gracious host to all of her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling to the Pacific Northwest where she grew up. She lived a very active life and loved to camp, fish, swim and clam.
Hazel loved her church family and was a member at Granite Mountain Baptist Church where she was faithful until the time of her death.
She loved to serve others and over the years could be found volunteering in after-school programs, preparing meals for people and visiting shut-ins and nursing homes.
She loved to sing and brought a smile to so many faces in need. Her sense of humor was a source of brightness to all who knew her.
Her independence was a source of inspiration and her faithfulness to her friends and family, her church and her Savior was an encouragement to all.
Hazel is survived by: her children, Bryan Biesanz and wife, Linda, of Gaston, Oregon; Nolan Biesanz and wife, Cindy, of Bayard, Nebraska; Sharon Norman Penny of Horseshoe Bay; Tamara Norman Butcher and husband, Mark, of Evanston, Wyoming; Reed Norman and wife, Jeri, of Marble Falls; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren, and, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Horace Norman; her granddaughter, Kimberly Penny, and, her brothers, Albert Hathaway and Herbert Hathaway.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2016, at 2 p.m. with David Hartwig and Mark Butcher officiating at Granite Mountain Baptist Church of Marble Falls.
The family would like to thank the numerous friends and church family who have visited, brought food and been generous with their love and support throughout these last days along with the staff at Granite Mesa care center and Lakeway Regional Medical Center for their care and compassion.
We also ask that in honor of Hazel any donations be made to Granite Mountain Baptist Church.
Condolences may be offered oneline at www.clementswilcoxfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so. He put His arms around you and whispered, ‘Come to me’ With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. And although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best”…Frances and Kathleen Coelho
