Prescription meds will be topic of March 17 meeting

Prescription medications will be the St. Patrick's Day topic at the meeting of Burnet County Democrats Thursday, March 17, at 6 p.m. at Trailblazer Grille, 216 South Main Street on the Burnet Courthouse Square.
The featured speaker will be Daniel E. Garcia, Pharm. D., a former compliance officer for the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
He will discuss five major points regarding prescription medication costs: Capitalism and its effects on costs, the cost of new prescription medications and whether they are more effective, costs to American consumers compared to other countries and legal remedies to high cost medications.
Garcia lives in Marble Falls with his wife Cleo who is a registered nurse and a clinical trial educator for national company.
