Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet will be the site of the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Association’s annual 24-hour charity run to support the families of fallen men and women in the U.S. Air Force.
The run starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, and will conclude at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Anyone is welcome to run with the participants, who will be running in teams for 2-hour blocks of time. Don’t worry--supporters do not have to run for 24 hours: “Even running for a mile is a great show of support,” said Tyler Stewart of the U.S. Air Force and event spokesman.
Participants will be part of a bigger picture. As many as 10,000 airmen on U.S. bases all over the world, and their supporters, will be running for the TACP cause during that time, Stewart said. At least 50 people will be running at Reveille Peak Ranch.
“It’s our 5th year for the event and it gets bigger and better every year,” he said.
Last year, the run raised $100,000 for the nonprofit. This year, organizers are hoping to net $500,000, Stewart said.
“TACPs advise ground commanders on the best use of air power and also establish and maintain command and control communications, control air traffic and naval gunfire and provide precision terminal attack guidance of U.S. and coalition close air support,” according to the TACP Association.
