MFISD starts search for Colt principal, seeks community input
By Emily Hilley-Sierzchula
Marble Falls Independent School District (MFISD) administrators have started the 10-step process of hiring a principal at Colt Elementary to replace Keith Powell, who announced his retirement earlier this month.
Wade Stanford, assistant superintendent of administrative operations, briefed the MFISD Board of Trustees on the process during the district’s meeting March 22.
Stanford expects the superintendent to be able to make a recommendation to the board during the regular meeting scheduled for May 16.
Administrators posted the position March 11, so the next step is to develop a hiring profile of characteristics and qualities desired for the leader of the school. The profile input process will take place from March 28-March 31.
Community members and interested parents who have, or will have, a student attending Colt Elementary during the next school year are encouraged to attend the Colt Elementary Principal Profile Development meeting Tuesday, March 29, at 5:30 p.m., in the Colt Elementary Library.
“We believe it’s vital to visit with our parents and community members so they have the opportunity to give input on the traits they think are important for the next leader of Colt Elementary School,” Stanford said. “The Colt Elementary School Principal Profile Development will be the first important step in the hiring process for the next principal of Colt Elementary.”
