Horseshoe Bay PD nabs cocaine, marijuana haul
Horseshoe Bay Police Chief Rocky Wardlow has issued a report of an arrest of a suspect with 28 grams of cocaine and more than one pound of marijuana in his possession.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30, a Horseshoe Bay police officer stopped a vehicle on Ranch to Market Road 2147 for a minor traffic violation. The officer determined through the Texas Department of Public Safety that the driver, James Walker, age 34, of Marble Falls was driving with an invalid license. Walker was arrested for that offense.
As officers began an inventory of the vehicle, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, the officer discovered 28 grams of cocaine and more than one pound of marijuana.
Walker was transported to the Llano County Jail and booked for driving while license invalid, a class B misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, over 4 ounces but less than 5 pounds, a state jail felony; and possession of a controlled substance—Penalty Group 1, over 4 grams but less than 200 grams, a 2nd degree felony. If convicted, Walker faces up to 20 years in prison for possessing that amount of cocaine.
“The patrol initiative that we began over 18 months ago continues to yield positive results by taking criminals off of our streets, drugs out of our community, and sends a message to the criminal element that Horseshoe Bay is not a good playground for their illicit activities,” said Wardlow.
