The City of Horseshoe Bay invites licensed irrigators to seek certification to work with the city and residents in its landscape irrigation assessment rebate program.

Through the program Horseshoe Bay water customers can have an irrigator with a city certification visit their property to look for ways to make their landscape irrigation systems more efficient and reduce water consumption. The city rebates $50 to the customer to cover the cost.

Part of the process is that the irrigator will deliver cost estimates for the improvements to the homeowner, as well as estimates on probable water savings from the system improvements.

There is no requirement on the part of the home owner to authorize the recommended improvements.

The fee to perform the assessments is restricted at $50, which the customer first pays directly to the irrigator. The city rebates the charge to the customer through a utility billing credit after the city receives the invoice and an assessment checklist from the customer.

Irrigators Rebate Certification involves an appointment with the city water conservation inspector to train on the city’s requirements and an inspection of the irrigator’s qualifications. Irrigators must be able to show they have a current irrigator’s license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Irrigation Technician’s licenses will not be sufficient for certification. There is no cost to the irrigators for the certification.

Irrigators wishing to become certified should call 830-598-9973, or send an email to bteeter@horseshoe-bay-tx.gov.
