A Llano High School teacher is out of a job after being accused of having an improper relationship with a high school student.
Clarissa Sue McDaniel, 28, resigned Friday after she was arrested by Llano police on two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student, a second-degree felony.
Llano Independent School District administrators were notified that McDaniel was allegedly involved in a relationship with a student, including participating in sexual relations in January, per court documents.
District officials have notified parents and indicated they intend to fully cooperate with the investigation by the Llano Police Department, Llano County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Rangers.
McDaniel was hired by the district last August and was in her first year teaching at the school.
Improper relationship between an educator and a student is considered to have occurred if an employee engages in sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a person enrolled in a public or private primary or secondary school where the employee works or a student participant in an educational activity sponsored by the school.
As a second-degree felony, it is punishable by two to 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division and a fine of up to $10,000.
