Gallery plans art instruction for young and old

Abstract artist M. Allison Sacra will offer a demonstration Thursday, May 19, and a full-day workshop May 24, both sponsored by Highland Art Guild & Gallery in Marble Falls. Instruction for budding artists is planned in June.

Workshops for young and old are on the upcoming calendar of the Highland Arts Guild & Gallery.
To be offered at their gallery at 318 Main Street, Marble Falls, are: an abstract painting workshop on Tuesday, May 24; the Summer Art Adventure for ages 11-14 years, June 6-10 (registration deadline May 30), and Summer Art Camp for ages 8-12, June 20-24 (registration deadline June 3).
Artist M. Allison Sacra will give a free abstract painting demonstration at Highland Arts Gallery in Marble Falls from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, to be followed by her workshop May 24.
Sacra, who is soon to open her own Olio Art Gallery in Horseshoe Bay, is offering the one-day workshop in abstract landscapes for $90.
“I paint in many styles with varying subjects,” said Sacra. “I deem my style as abstract realism. They are fun and splashy, conveying a freeing attitude enticing the viewer to feel the same.
“Painting my figures is exciting for me, faceless, yet with a face” the artist continued. “I want the viewers to look into their souls and wonder—what are these people thinking, what is on their mind, what is their attitude?”

Local artist, Mariah Jones is offering the Summer Art Adventure--”a weeklong journey to a lifetime of enjoyment”--from 9 a.m.-noon, June 6-10. Acrylic design and painting await students age 11 – 14, who will learn to perform the basics of graphing, drawing and painting in acrylics.  
Each day, students will watch a demonstration of one of the steps in creating an acrylic work of art, and be led in a hands-on practical lesson to create their own masterpieces.  Artist instructors will offer guidance and critiques to help students master the skills needed to be a successful artist.  At the end of the week, students will leave with a basic understanding of acrylic art and design. as well as taking home paintings of their very own.  
The cost of $80 per student includes all art supplies and snacks.

There is no registration fee for the Free Summer Art Camp, but the deadline to register for the limited spaces is June 3.
