Llano County crash claims a life Sunday

A one-vehicle, 18-wheeler rollover accident on Texas 29 in western Llano County killed one person Sunday, June 19, and shut

down the highway for a large portion of the day.

The accident happened near Little Sandy Creek, just west of Llano County Road 103 at about 9 a.m. Sunday. According to published reports, the 2016 Volvo 18-wheeler from Washington state was traveling east on Texas 29 when the driver of the rig fell asleep and the vehicle left the roadway, overturning. A passenger in the vehicle, 61-year-old Hardev Singh, died at the scene, while the driver was transported to a local hospital for his injuries. There was no word on the condition of the driver.

The accident spilled the truck's cargo all over Texas 29, causing a shutdown from County Road 103 to the Texas 71 and Texas 29 interchange just west of Llano. Crews had to clean up the roadway and a wrecker had to lift the vehicle back to an upright position.

Llano County sheriff's deputies and Llano volunteer firefighters assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety at the scene. The roadway was reopened at 3:33 p.m. Sunday.
