The 60th Annual Marble Falls Open/Pro Rodeo is on the horizon and rodeo events will be going on July 13-16. But the highlight for many families is the Marble Falls Rodeo Parade that will take place on Main Street July 16.

“We invite all kinds of entries,” said Jacque Horn of the Marble Falls Rodeo Association Board of Directors. “Kids love to catch candy and see all the floats and it is a great way to advertise.”

“Horses and riders are something they really love to see,” Horn added. “We encourage any mounted entries. It is a great way for families who ride to take part.”

Walkers are the only entries being discouraged.

“It just get so hot so early in July,” said horn. “Walkers are fine for the Christmas parade, but we don't want to see anyone overheated in the rodeo parade.”

Floats on trailers, decorated cars and trucks, golf carts and all-terrain vehicles are all welcome. Even cyclists can take part. Rodeo and festival queens always make an appearance, either on horseback or by fancy float or convertible.

“It is a great way to advertise a business,” said Horn. “A trailer loaded with hay bails will let a whole club or church group ride along.”

Red, white and blue is a traditional theme but one parade award recognizes novelty for “Most Unique.”

In addition to Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl and the best in a junior division, there are ribbons for Best Float, Best Hometown and Best Out-of-Town entries,

The parade will queue up in Johnson Park, 230 South Avenue J, take Yett Street to Main Street, and north to Sixth Street before returning to the park.

To enter, just contact Horn at 512-755-0805 or email her at Jacque@zeecon.com.

If you can't get a team together to be in the parade, but want to help with the logistics, Horn will be more than pleased to sign you up as a volunteer.

The Youth Rodeo will be held July 13 and the overflow entries will be recorded in the Rodeo Slack Night, July 14. The main rodeo opens at 8 p.m. each night, July 15-16.

Adam Fears of “Summer on Fire” fame will perform after the Saturday night dust settles.
