Nora Elizabeth Alderson Lacy was born Aug. 20, 1923 and died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the age of 92.
Nora and her husband, Jim, operated the R. E. Janes Gravel Co. in Abilene and raised their daughter, Carolyn. Nora was an avid bowler in her younger years.
She loved to go hunting and fishing in Colorado with her husband annually and tour the United States in the summers.
She had many accomplishments such as receiving her GED at the age of 41.
After living in Abilene for many years, upon her retirement from R. E. Janes Gravel Co., she moved to Mansfield to be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren and begin new careers and interests.
She enjoyed traveling abroad to Japan, Spain, London, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany and loved to take the “red eye” to Las Vegas to play the slots and return home on the 4 a.m. “red eye” the next morning.
She was a business owner of a women’s retail clothing store, a convenience store, and a trucking company at different times in her life.
Nora was a risk taker.
She lived her life happily, independently, and energetically one day at a time.
Nora also cared deeply about her family and she had a large family to care about.
She was totally devoted to her sisters and brothers, daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nora found great purpose in life helping Lisa, her granddaughter, take care of the four great grandchildren. Her unselfishness was experienced by most of the members of the Alderson family throughout her life.
She will be greatly missed!
