Jesse Thomas Rice
Jesse Thomas “TOM” Rice 85, passed away on June 29, 2016. Tom was born near Akron, Ohio to “Dixie” and Marie Warner Rice in 1931 and moved with his family to Austin at age 6 in a Model A Ford.
Tom was a successful Austin Realtor for 60 years after graduating Stephen F. Austin High School and serving in the Texas National Guard. He retired to Horseshoe Bay in 2000 with his wife of 33 years Katherine Kerr Rice.
An avid golf member of the Austin CC, duplicate bridge player and loyal Longhorn fan, he also enjoyed the great outdoors through hunting, fishing, gardening, firing up the BBQ pit and volunteering at Laguna Gloria Fiesta and Safari.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jean Ramming Rice, and three of his four older sisters. He is survived by his wife KK Rice; his son, Russell Rice and wife Deidra; two daughters, Debora Rice and Melinda Rice; his sister, Florence Johnson; three sister-in-laws and family; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Seton Home Care and Hospice of Burnet, Vibra Rehab Hospital Lakeway and Dr. Youman and nurses at Texas Oncology Marble Falls, for the exceptional care he received in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seton Highland Lakes Hospital, Seton Highland Lakes Home Care and Hospice, both of Burnet, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Horseshoe Bay, or a charity of your choice. Services for the family will be arranged at a later date.
