Marble Falls Police nabbed a theft suspect after they said the man bragged about the theft.
Michael Montrell Emanuel, 26, was arrested on felony theft charges after police said he said a bit too much to friends.
“He stole a truck back on June 28,” said Capt. Glen Hanson of Marble Falls Police.
On that day, the owners of a gray 2015 Chevrolet Silverado told police the vehicle had been taken from the driveway of their residence in the 900 block of Avenue E.
“It was unlocked with the keys in it,” Hanson said.
During the investigation, police developed information that led them to suspect Emanuel, mainly, that he had claimed responsibility for the theft.
“He talked to friends about it,” Hanson said. “We had enough information to put the pieces together.”
Emanuel was arrested on Tuesday, July 12 on charge of theft of property between $30,000 and $150,000, a third degree felony, as well as charges of organized criminal activity out of Scurry County, failure to identify as a fugitive and failure to maintain financial responsibility out of Burnet County.
The truck has not been located, Hanson said.
Marble Falls Police always advocated that residents practice Hide Lock Take; hide valuables, lock vehicles and homes, and take the keys.
