The Highland Lakes Texas Exes Chapter has been re-activated and is re-establishing their University of Texas Longhorn family with an event from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18.

The event, with appetizers and beverages, will be held at Mama's Home Cooking, 200 South West Street in Burnet.

The chapter will be working to bring together UT graduates in the Highland Lakes through social, cultural, fundraiser and community help events to provide benefits to area students through scholarships.

At the Aug. 18 meeting, $6 per person includes the first beverage ticket and appetizers. Additional beverage tickets will be $5 each. Payment at the first gathering will be by cash only. Separate dining at the restaurant will be available for those who want to stay longer.

Drawing tickets sold at the meeting for $2 each or five for $10 will be the first small fundraiser.

“This event will be a great opportunity to begin chapter fund raising, and any donations will be welcomed,” said the meeting announcement. “Spread the word and bring friends and let´s build Longhorn community participation to a new high.”
