This year marks the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks carried out against our nation on September 11, 2001.

With support of the mayor and city council of the City of Marble Falls, the Marble Falls Rotary Club holds a ceremony each year on September 11th, for personal reflection, prayer and thought in remembrance of the victims and their families and rescue workers involved in the 9/11 tragedies, and to honor, remember and reunite with the first responders or this area.

Again, on this Sunday, Sept. 11, the date the State of Texas has declared as “Texas First Responders Day” in honor of the bravery, courage and determination of Texas men and women who assist others in emergencies, the Marble Falls Rotary Club, with the support of area governmental leaders, will remember and honor all police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) organizations for their service to our communities, and will recognize at the ceremony, representatives of each area first responder organization.

“The Rotary Club of Marble Falls is honored each year to sponsor the 9/11 Day of Remembrance Ceremony and to remind everyone that the great strength of America is found in the hearts and souls of its citizens, and that despite the senseless loss of innocent lives and the horror witnessed by people around the world, we can look back at Sept. 11, 2001 and see something more than pain – we can see strength, heroism, and unity, as demonstrated each and every day by first responders,” reads the Rotary Club's statement.

As set forth in the Mission Statement of the National September 11th Memorial Museum at the World Trade Center in New York City, “May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, which reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our resolve to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hatred, ignorance and intolerance.”

The public is invited to attend the 15th Annual Marble Falls Rotary Club “Day of Remembrance Ceremony” at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Marble Falls Lakeside Park, 305 Buena Vista Drive. Any who cannot attend, are asked to take a moment of silence in remembrance of 9/11 and the strength, heroism and unity of the first responders on that day, and on each and every day that first responders serve their communities.
