Barthel Lewis Oxley
Barthel Lewis Oxley was born April 23, 1928 in Broxton, Oklahoma to John Thomas and Sylven Marion Young Oxley.
Bart attended school in Broxton, Oklahoma where he graduated.
He attended college at Frank Phillip College and received an electrical engineer degree from the University of Houston.
Bart grew up on his family farm near Apache, Oklahoma, where he learned to do many trades as part of keeping a farm operating.
After marrying, he moved to Borger, Texas, to work for Phillips Petroleum.
He worked for Phillips for 38 years in many different roles.
Bart was a "jack-of-all-trades", with talents he demonstrated by building four homes during his lifetime.
He was very active into his later years, helping his sons and others on projects where he could utilize his many skills.
In recent years, Bart and Rella have lived in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and have been members of the Marble Falls Church of Christ.
Bart married Rella Swanda on September 29, 1947 in Pampa, Texas.
They were married for nearly 69 years when he passed away on September 28, 2016.
Bart is survived by his wife of the home, Rella three Sons: John Oxley of Pasadena, Texas, Steven Oxley & wife Becki of Deer Park, Texas, Scot Oxley of Austin, Texas; three granddaughters: Robyn Oxley & Husband Michael Wood of Portland, Oregon, Erin Townsend & Husband John of Washington D.C., Meghan Oxley of Seattle, Washington; two Sisters: Erma Huff of Vancouver, Washington, Elizabeth Culwell, Abilene, Texas
Bart was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
