Kevin Duggins landed limit and first place at first bass event of year for Marble Falls Club.

From staff reports

The Marble Falls High School Bass Fishing Club will hold its second tournament of the year Oct. 15 on Lake Travis.

The Mustangs team will be looking to defend its title in the Lake Travis Cup this year.

This year’s club has 35 members, including 15 new members. Membership has been expanded to include seventh and eighth graders.

At the team’s first event of the season on Lake Marble Falls, Sept. 17, the club hosted an event with 15 boats and 30 anglers.

Mustang senior Kevin Duggins won the first event with Carson Pratt and Collin Hughes taking second and third, respectively. Duggins also caught the big bass.

“You couldn’t ask for worse conditions – air temperature 95 degrees, no wind, slick calm water,’’ Duggins said. “There was a full moon the night before which means the bass had been feeding all night. Despite the conditions, some anglers still managed to catch some bass.’’

The club is looking for sponsors.
