Eighth grade teams split with Badgers

Marble Falls Middle School teams battled Lampasas Thursday night.

The Marble Falls eighth grade Gold team played solid defense led by a three-interception night from Trey Gilpin in an 8-0 victory over Lampasas.

 Aaron Ramirez had an interception and Miles Fields and Josue Guevara each caused a fumble.

Parker Hughes scored the game’s only touchdown on a 4-yard run and Cutter Wright connected with Hayden Hoover for the 2-point conversion.  Wright added a 1-yard touchdown run to finish the scoring.

Lampasas 29, Eight grade Purple 16: The eighth grade Purple lost to Lampasas 29-16.  Andrew Rodriguez returned a kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown and Rhett Giesecke converted the 2-point conversion. 

Taevin Brown caught a 20-yard pass from Luke Nail for a touchdown and Andrew Rodriguez ran in the 2-point conversion.  Dakota Miller and Gabriel Perez were the defensive standouts.

The eighth grade Purple team’s overall record is now 3-3.

Seventh grade

Lampasas 30, Seventh grade Purple 0: The Mustangs played hard the whole game but lost 30-0. Defensive standouts were Ben Martin and Chris Whitecotton with interceptions.

Top offensive players for the Mustangs were Zack Zavala and Dylan Offutt. They both had some great catches for huge gains from quarterback Jake Becker.  The Mustangs will take on Fredricksburg next week at home.

Gold 8, Lampasas 8: The seventh grade Gold team traveled to Lampasas to take on the Badgers in district play. The defense played an outstanding game and came up with several crucial turnovers.

Jose Tonche led the defense with two forced fumbles and recoveries and James Lilley had an interception.

The offense played well all night but couldn’t capitalize on several opportunities.

Jose Tonche scored on a 20-yard run and quarterback Forrest Swan ran in the 2- point conversion to tie the game
