A Burnet County woman is in custody after law enforcement authorities said she shot her husband in the head with a shotgun.

Lauren Duncan, 40, was arrested on charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after Burnet County Sheriff's authorities said she shot her husband in the head with a shotgun, injuring his face and head. Authorities said there may be more to the story.

On Sunday, Oct. 16 at 7:08 p.m., officers received a report of an active shooter in the community of Silver Creek. Burnet County officers and County Constable Pct. 1 responded to the 1900 block of County Road 128, where they had been told that a female subject was pointing a gun at her husband.

“The initial call was received from a neighbor in the 1700 block of CR 128, reporting that there was a female pointing a gun at a male subject and that she had heard three shots,” police said in a release. “Burnet County Communications later received a 911 call from the victim stating that he had been shot in the face and head area.”

Burnet County Sheriff's Department Capt. Ricky Bindseil said the husband was shot inside the home.

“It's unknown what caliber it was or what type of shot,” he said.

Burnet EMS transported the man to a medical center in Williamson County for treatment.
