Marble Falls cross country competes Thursday at Seguin

Senior Kim Boni still holds the Marble Falls school record with a 19:28 time in the 5K.

This week, she’ll be competing in the District 26-5A meet in Seguin and will be shooting for one of the top finishes.

In fact, the Lady Mustangs have three athletes that should challenge for the Top 10 ast Thursday’s meet.

Freshman Ambrie Lizcano’s best time is 19:35, which is second fastest on the team this season. Freshman Daijah Torns ran 19:34 at the McNeil Invitational.

“I am hoping all three girls will place in the top 10 at district and all our girls in the top 20,’’ Marble Falls coach Anthony Torns said. “On the boys side Cristian Ramirez has the best shop at getting to regionals. He has run 16:45 this year.’’

Torns expects Dripping Springs to carry the favorite’s role on both sides as a team.

Marble Falls and Dripping Springs are ranked No. 8 and No. 9, respectively in the state Class 5A rankings.
