Kenneth Monroe Holland
Kenneth Monroe Holland
Kenneth Monroe Holland, descendant of a pioneer Burnet County family, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 in the same house where he had been born 93 years earlier.
The third of four children of Ealy and Olive Hays Holland, Kenneth was raised on the family ranch near Mormon Mill, and graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1941.
Along with many other members of The Greatest Generation, he answered his country's call, serving in the United States Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Upon discharge after the war, he worked as an aircraft mechanic for the Air Force at Kelly Air Force Base, retiring in 1970.
After retirement, he returned to the family ranch, where he spent the next four decades doing all the things he loved - raising cattle, doing construction and landscaping, hunting, maintaining the spread, enjoying family life, and participating in church and community activities.
Kenneth married Ruby Faye Wilkinson, herself a member of a pioneer Burnet County family, on July 24, 1949.
The Holland’s were blessed with two children, Neita Ann and Samuel Ealy Holland.
In his later years, he was privileged to have both of his children and their families join him living at the home place.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruby Faye, and by his grandson, Nathan Young.
He is survived by his daughter, Neita Ann and husband Rev. Frank Young; his son Samuel Ealy Holland and wife Julie; his grandchildren Jonathan Young, David Francis Young and wife Michelle, Jennifer Holland, David Holland and wife Sara; and ten great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 5 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
Home going service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Sam Starks and Rev. David Smith officiating.
Interment followed at Holland Cemetery, on the ranch he lived on and loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Pentecostal Church of Marble Falls, 403 S. Ave. N, Marble Falls, Texas, 78654 ATTN: Suppan Family Missions.
