Benjamin E. Kowing

Sept. 16, 1942 ~ Nov. 17, 2016

Benjamin E. Kowing, 74, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa, and formerly of Meadowlakes, Texas, died on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.

The family hosted an open house in Ben’s honor at their home on Monday, Nov. 21. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Helping Center of Marble Falls, Texas. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born in Lawrence, Kansas, on Sept. 16, 1942, the son of Benjamin and Emma (Howe) Kowing and was a graduate of the University of Kansas. On Sept. 4, 1965, he was united in marriage to Carol Jane Fielding in Winfield, Kansas.

Benjamin was employed as a network engineer, developing and designing computer networks for small business.

He was a Texas Master Naturalist and a Texas Master Gardener.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carol; his son, Benjamin (Jennifer) Kowing; his grandchildren, Sam and Sarah Kowing; his sister-in-law, Barbara Robertson of Marble Falls, Texas; and his brothers-in-law, Bill Fielding of Johnson City, Texas and David Fielding of Dallas, Texas.

His parents preceded him in death.
