The Mustangs picked up a pair of wins in the Geronimo Navarro Tournament over the weekend to push the team’s record to 5-8.
The team returns to action Tuesday with a 6:30 p.m. tipoff against Fredericksburg at Marble Falls’ Max Copeland Gym.
In the tournament, the Mustangs split game each day and closed on Saturday on a high note with a 74-33 victory over Class 2A Falls City.
The Mustangs jumped out to a quick start lead by senior guard Zac Spruill, who had eight of the team’s first 14 points as the Mustangs pushed the pace. Marble Falls scored the first 26 points of the game with the guards getting most of the action off the fastbreak.
The Mustangs defense was solid shutting down the Beavers shots on goal.
The Beavers hit a shot at the buzzer to avoid getting shut out in the first quarter.
“We showed a little killer mentality, that was good,’’ Marble Falls coach Matt Bailey said after the team ran through the outmatched Falls City squad. “We’re working to build things, this was a good trip for us.’’
