The Marble Falls girls’ basketball team will face off with Kerrville Tivy Friday for sole possession of the District 26-5A lead.

Both teams come into the game with 9-1 district marks while Seguin and Dripping Springs hold down third and fourth place, respectively.

Marble Falls’ 57-47 win over Boerne Champion on Tuesday night on the road knocked Boerne Champion into fifth place, a game back of one of the four playoff spots.

Boerne Champion is 5-5 in district and must win out to keep any type of playoff hopes alive.

The winner of the Marble Falls-Kerrville Tivy game will clinch a playoff spot and will be the favorite to win the district title.

The Lady Mustangs face three playoff contenders among their final four games.

The remaining schedule for the 21-8 Lady Stangs is at Kerrville Tivy on Friday the face Seguin Jan. 31 at Marble Falls, at Lockhart on Feb. 3 and close with Dripping Springs at Marble Falls Feb. 7.

The Marble Falls boys played a solid game against District 26-5A leader Boerne Champion on Tuesday night, but faded down the stretch in a 54-43 loss at Max Copeland Gymnasium.
