Averys attend Trump-Pence inauguration
The Trump and Pence families greet the 25,000 attendees at The Freedom Ball following the Inauguration. Graham and Mary Jane Avery, among the crowd, captured the scene.
At least two local folks swelled the crowd at the at the Inauguration of Donald John Trump and Michael Richard "Mike" Pence. Graham and Mary Jane Avery traveled to Washington, D.C. on Jan. 18 to represent the Burnet County Republican Party.
They began the celebration by attending a mixer for The Mighty American/Texas Strike Force where they heard experiences of Strike Force members from across the United States.
Festivities continued the next evening when the Averys attended The Texas Society of Washington, D.C. Black Tie and Boots Presidential Inaugural Ball, chaired by District 25 Congressman Roger Williams. Entertainment was provided by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, as well as the Beach Boys.
“The most memorable moment of the evening came when Donald Trump, Jr. stopped by to thank the people of Texas for helping to elect his father,” reported the Averys. “The organizers surprised him by presenting him with a cowboy hat and a pair of boots, which he graciously accepted.”
The highlight of the Averys’ trip was attending the Inauguration Ceremony on Jan. 20.
They described the atmosphere as being “electric” and the people as being “wonderful and polite.” Many of the people with whom they attended the ceremony, identified themselves as being first-time voters, so it was a truly momentous occasion for them, they said.
The final Inaugural event of the trip was The Freedom Ball, which included 25,000 attendees. Despite an amazing lineup of entertainers, the consensus was that President Trump and Melania stole the show once they arrived.
“It was a joy to witness the Inauguration of Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence after working for over a year making telephone calls, attending campaign rallies, and walking door-to-door in the last weeks of the campaign in North Carolina to elect a patriot who will bring back jobs, protect and defend our border, repeal and replace Obamacare and choose a Supreme Court justices who will uphold our Constitution,” said Mary Jane Avery, who currently serves as vice chairwoman of the Burnet County Republican Party and president of the Burnet County Republican Club. Mary Jane was also a 2016 Republican National Convention Delegate for Congressional District 25 (U.S. Representative Roger Williams).
The Avery's first stop recognized the grassroots organization founded in 1999 during Gov. George W. Bush’s first campaign for the presidency. The Mighty American Strike Force (MASF), formerly known as the Mighty Texas Strike Force) is a group of devoted volunteers who, at their own expense, agree to be deployed to national battleground swing states and critical Senate and House races during early voting the month before Election Day and also 7-10 days before General Election Day, to support Republican candidates.
