Concert supports Burnet's Officer Imrie

Burnet residents rallied Saturday night, Jan. 28, in support of Burnet Officer Matt Imrie, with a benefit concert.
The community came together for one purpose: to support their fellow member of the Burnet community.
Imrie, who was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident while off duty Tuesday, Jan. 10, sustained a badly broken femur bone, which required surgery. Imrie remained in intensive care until Sunday, Jan. 14.
“He has since been moved out of ICU and is receiving the best of care in a rehabilitation center located in Round Rock” said Jenniifer Watlers, Imrie's mother.
Imrie was released from the rehabilitation center to enjoy the benefit concert at Haley Nelson Park and spoke with many of the community members who expressed their love and support for Imrie during his recovery.
“Thank you all, this means so much to me,” said Imrie, to the attending crowd.
While expressing his gratitude to everyone who was at the event, Imrie was not able to say more than thank you before his emotions took over.
“Matt and I would like to personally thank everyone for coming to the concert,” said Ginnie Kirkpatrick, Imrie's fiancé. “It was such a great turnout and you all lifted his spirits and continued his motivation to work hard everyday to come home.”
“Thank you again from our family to yours,” added Kirkpatrick.
Burnet Police Department Captain Jason Davis, who helped with the benefit, was very positive about the outcome of the event.
“This benefit was a huge success, a fantastic turnout involving the community, we couldn't have asked for anything more,” Davis said.
In addition to music, the event held a silent auction in order to help raise more money for Imrie and his family during his recovery.
“There were between 70 to 80 businesses who donated items,” said Davis.
Although an exact amount has not been tallied from the event, Imrie was presented with a $1,000 check at the event to help with his recovery.
If anyone would like to help Imrie and his family the Burnet Police Department has set up a bank account in Imrie's name at the Wells Fargo Bank in Burnet.
