The Granite Shoals Police Department (GSPD) is seeking public input about their law enforcement services through a survey, available through Friday, Feb. 24.

When GSPD Chief Gary Boshears provided the city council a review of his department Dec. 13, he emphasized that citizen feedback on law enforcement performance, contact, complaint and customer service would help focus future endeavors.

Our vision statement is to instill a sense of pride to each and every citizen within our community,” he said. "We want to hear from our citizens, get their opinions about how well the police department is doing its job, and how they feel about public safety in Granite Shoals”

The Department has established a citizen survey that can be taken online. The Department is asking citizens to go to www.surveymonkey.com/r/NXYBNR7 to take the survey. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete.

"This survey is one of our first steps in building a long term plan for the police department,” said Boshears. “The survey allows citizens to anonymously give us their opinion about the police department and public safety in Granite Shoals. We will use the data collected from this to see what areas our citizens feel we are doing well in and what areas we need to improve. Another step later in our planning process will be to have a town hall meeting where we hope to engage our citizens in a dialogue about public safety in Granite Shoals."

Boshears outlined other efforts to the community, including involvement with students and parents at Highland Lakes Elementary School and plans to resume National Night Out events. He outlined goals for officers as well, including improved fitness, training and setting their sights on continued recognition in the Texas Police Chief's Association Best Practices Program.

The GSPD survey, also found under “Current News” on the city website, www.graniteshoals.org, is available online now through Friday, Feb. 24.
