A May 30 jury trial date has been set for the former general manager of Cecil Atkission Motors in Burnet, who was indicted for theft of money from his former employer.

Kirk Edmond Hagen, 39, of Bertram, waived arraignment Wednesday, Feb. 22. A status hearing on his case has been set for March 31 with a plea deadline of May 19.

Hagen, currently a licensed Realtor with RE/MAX Burnet, was arrested by Kerrville Police Department on a warrant from Burnet County on Friday, Jan. 20, and was released on $7,500 surety bond. He was charged with theft of property greated than $1,500 but less than $20,000, a state jail felony under Section 31.03(e)(4)(A) of the Texas Penal Code.

Hagen was indicted by a Burnet County grand jury on July 12, 2016. According to a copy of the indictment, Hagen was accused of taking the money on Jan. 12, 2015, while leading Cecil Atkission Motors to believe he would be using it to pay for a “Gold Digger” direct credit mailer and that it was done intentionally to deprive the company of the money.
