Softball enters big week in second place

Marble Falls faces a big week in softball this week.
The Lady Mustangs close out the first round of District 26-5A play with games against Lockhart and Dripping Springs.
Marble Falls (8-7-3, 4-1) picked up a big win Thursday with a 1-0 decision over Seguin on the road. The Lady Stangs go into the week in second place in the district a game behind Dripping Springs.
The Lady Mustangs will travel to Dripping Springs (5-0) Friday.
“It was a great win for our program on Thursday against Seguin,’’ coach Tim Richter said. “We talked about playing small ball and just to put the ball in play. We felt if we could put some pressure on their right side of the infield, we had a chance.’’
Jesse Stephenson was 3-for-4 batting and drove in the winning run in the top of the fith inning. She drove in Jaden DeLeon.
The Lady Mustangs had seven hits in the game and played error free ball on defense.
Sophomore pitcher Logan Hulon picked up the win with a complete game. She scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out nine with two walks. She had 199 strikeouts on the season.
