Marlene M. Menicke

Marlene M. Menicke departed on her grandest journey on March 15.

Marlene was pure joy and happiness.

She lived a grand, joyous life, traveling the world and working and living in beautiful places.

Marlene was born February 4, 1938, on a farm near Ubly, Michigan to Edward and Martha (Bukoski) Heleski.

She graduated from Ubly High School in 1956 and quickly began her quest to see the world.

Throughout her career, she lived in Detroit, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Santa Fe, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and finally Horseshoe Bay, where she has been a resident for the past 35 years.

In 1978, Marlene married Warren Menicke, traveling with him for three years while they worked in Saudi Arabia.

After Warren retired, they moved to Blue Lake Estates in Horseshoe Bay.

Warren preceded her in death in 2006.

Marlene is survived by five step children; Joseph (Cash), Peter, Warren (Ducey), and Richard Menicke and Alison (Lisa) Sandefur, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by five siblings; Clement Heleski, Shirley Heleski, James Heleski, Joyce Regan and Kathy Lowe, as well as dear friend Mary Beth Madsen, several nieces and nephews and her dear dogs Bailey and Little Bit.

One sister; Dolores Berger preceded her in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Phoenix Center, P.O. Box 732, Marble Falls or to 365 Pet Connection, 124 Hills Court Horseshoe Bay.
