Margo Minard

Margaret H. Minard, known as Margo, died April 27, 2017 in Burnet, Texas. She was born October 2, 1923 on the family farm outside of Amsterdam, Ohio. Her parents were Osborne and Lulu Helphinstine, and she had one brother, James.

Margo was a long time resident of Texas and was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Minard and son-in-law Mike Cravey of Marble Falls; a son, Frank Minard and his wife, Carol, of San Antonio. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Chris Cravey Hart, Kate Cravey Bravo, Jeffry Minard and Andrew Minard and five great-grandchildren.

Margo attended Ohio University and the New England Conservatory. During the final days of World War II, Margo helped manufacture navigation instruments as part of her war work. A piano teacher and church musician, Margo taught many students during her 60-year career in music education. Her friends and family remember her strong teaching drive. Anyone who showed interest would soon find himself or herself at the piano learning a new chord from Margo. She enjoyed talking about music, cosmology, and the meaning of life.

The family is grateful to the staff at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet for the excellent care they provided to Margo.

A memorial service for Margo will be held at First United Methodist Church, 1101 Bluebonnet Drive, Marble Falls, Texas, on Thursday, May 11, at 2 p.m. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the charity of your choice.
