MayFest begins TOMORROW!
You can be part of bringing MayFest to Johnson Park by signing up with the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce now. Volunteers man the booths for drinks and ride tokens, monitor games and generally spiff up the grounds. The over 21 set can staff the beer booth. Sign up is easy online by going to http://signup.com/go/UEsPr4 or by emailing Elizabeth Maynard, special events coordinator, Elizabeth@MarbleFalls.org.

The four days of Marble Falls MayFest 2017, this Wednesday-Saturday, May 10-13, promise to be packed with fun for the whole family.
Whether you love MayFest for the music, the carnival, shopping the vendors or the games, you can join in at Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J in Marble Falls.
The carnival gets the whole thing rolling and spinning and whirling, playing games of fun and chance and eating and smiling. It all goes on 5 p.m.-midnight Wednesday-Saturday.
Here is what's new on Saturday:
· Volleyball Tournament – Players 16 and older register at 9:30 a.m. to start at 10 a.m. Registration is $10, but the winning five-member team gets carnival pass wristbands.
· Kids Sack Races—free to kids age 4-12 years from 3-4 p.m.
· Adult Kiddie Bike Races – A free carnival wrist band is the incentive for competitors age 16 or older to take up the uninhibited fun from 3:30-4 p.m. This is a bring-your-own-bike race and registration is $10 per rider.
Not new, but ever popular is the MayFest Washer Tournament beginning at noon Saturday. Players register at 11 a.m. for $15 per person or $30 per team. The first place winner takes home 70 percent of the pot; second place, 30 percent. Third place? Well, hearty MayFest congratulations and good luck wishes for next year.
All the food and craft vendor booths will be open on Saturday morning, as well.
Free live music is one of the big draws of MayFest;
On Friday, Sonido Scorpion, a Tejano DJ, will be spinning the tunes from 6-8 p.m.
Cumbia music from Grupo Emocion will carry the night through from 9:30 p.m.-midnight.
Saturday performances begin at 3 p.m. with Austin singer/songwriter Jeremy Ryan Holloway. His storytelling style and acoustic guitar eases listeners into the next set.
The Ain’tNeverBeens (7-9 p.m.) is a band Marble Falls has learned to love at LakeFest in the summertime and gigs at Brass Hall. They turn out Texas Rock-n-Roll, blues folk and country from Trevor Spivey, singing and playing guitar; Hunter Womble, singing and playing bass, and Ryan Buck on drums.
Last up is Texas country band Southern Underground, 9:3- p.m.-midnight.
Lead singer George Pemberton hails from Buchanan Dam so folks in the Highland Lakes have “been knowing him,” as they say, for a long time.
His lead vocals and acoustic guitar play are backed up by Richard Gass on drums, Chris “Desmo” Desormeaux on lead guitar and Mike Wagers on bass guitar.
Just watching and listening are free fun, but some folding money is required. Tokens for the carnival rides are $1 each and some rides can take four to five tokens. Tokens and wristband passes must be purchased at Johnson Park.
There are some height restrictions on rides, so patrons should check height requirements before purchasing non-refundable tickets or wristbands.
On Friday and Saturday The soda and water booth will be open and will require $1 blue tokens ($1). drinks). On Saturday, the beer booth will open at 11 a.m., and will require $3 red tokens.
