Singing zoologist, first Marble Falls summer reading program

The first special program Marble Falls Public Library Summer Reading Club will be Thursday, June 8, when Lucas Miller, the singing zoologist makes a visit to the library at 101 Main Street.

A favorite at schools and libraries, Miller has performed in many venues, including the Austin City Limits Music Festival and two seasons of the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpiece Artist Tour. He earned a BA Degree in zoology at Miami University before beginning his career as an author and recording musician.

Miller will be singing his silly songs with serious science woven into laughter and learning at 3 p.m.

Registration for the club began Wednesday, May 31, at the library.

Other special Thursday afternoon programs will include one by Austin Reptile on June 15, another with an amazing juggler from Epic Entertainment on June 22 and Circus Chickendog, featured trained rescue dogs, a performing parrot, acts of balance and giant bubbles to the tune of accordion music, on June 29.

In July, the regular Pre-school Storytime for children age 3-6 years will resume its 11 a.m. Thursday schedule.

Other weekly children's programs are Mother Goose Time at 10 a.m. Fridays for children birth-24 months and Toddler Time at 11 a.m. Fridays for children age 18-36 months. The 30-minute programs bring children together to interact with stories and enjoy an introduction to reading.
